This Mondays lookbook is all about the home office. A dedicated workspace doesn’t have to take up allot of room in a house. There are allot of smart ways to get a tiny space organized and decorated to suit allot of different styles. This space of the house should be the area where you get to be your most productive and creative. The space can be designed to make it both stylish and functional, and can be achieved on a small budget.
Here are some ideas to get you inspired this monday! Click on the photographs to get more info! Happy Monday!
Chevron and hemmingbone floors are being featured allot in top home decor and interior magazines and it’s not hard to see why.
I can’t say that I have always liked the flooring pattern. It used to give me a really out-of-date feeling, mostly because I remember my grandmothers house having these floors. But, after seeing the chevron and hemmingbone floors appear so often in glossy magazines they have been growing on me. They give a room such character and understated boldness.
Chevron has been a hot trend in the fashion industry and is only natural for it to find it’s way into housing design. Hemmingbone floors share a similar pattern but they are distinct patterns.

What’s your take on Moroccan tile design?
The traditional colors are truly beautiful. It’s bold, and once you choose the pattern and color – you have to live it for a while as it would get pricey to change out tiles every season. What I do like though, is finding the tile or pattern in calming colors that I know will blend and work well with other things in our house.
Yes, I know – probably boring. But, I like to use color in other accessories around the house and not in tiles or flooring.
These are some of the photographs I found for this weeks lookbook. I’d like to get a sample ordered for our new bathroom. We are divided on this trend in our house, so it will be interesting to see who wins! 🙂
Wallpapers are tricky. It took me some time to get to this, only because I have to really love a wallpaper to have it in my home. If I feel that way, I bet there are others like me that feel the same.
It is a very personal choice. But, it is great to get inspiration and figure out what style you are going for in a room and how a wallpaper can help achieve it.
I adore papers from Elitis, Zoffany & Harlequin. I like textured papers, with some silk or sheen to it. And, i think for it to work in a room – good lighting is a must and the right accessories should be used to pull off the look.
In our new home, I will be doing one wall in our dining room. I’m keen on a dark wall with metallic finishes and great lighting in the room. I have ordered samples – so looking forward to getting started!
Hotels around the world are some of the best places to be inspired by beautiful design trends. The Mandarin is no exception.
Looking over photographs from a few of their hotels around the world, makes we want to be able to travel more and experience more of the beautiful rooms. They work with some of the industry’s best people to put together luxury rooms for the guests.
My ideal home would be purely hotel inspired. Especially the bathrooms, all the details and layout. Here are some photographs of some of the Mandarin hotel bathrooms from different places. Enjoy!
I think black accent walls are super trendy and can be used in different rooms to help frame the room. I am looking into getting one of the walls in the new place done in black, and using a large mirror I have been drooling over, and frames to bring it to life. If not plain black, I have found a beautiful wall paper with black and white stripes that work really well with gold or chrome mirrors and frames.

Recently I have been going to different stores having a look at bar stools. We have some in our kitchen, white easy to clean bar stools. However, the quality on them wasn’t that good and the paint has started fading. So, I will try get them sold and get new one’s for the next house.
Here are some of the types I have been looking at. Bar stools can really frame a kitchen, and give a unique look to the room. It is fun shopping around for new one’s and trying to see which one’s will best for our new kitchen. Of course, keeping within a budget but making sure I get good quality chairs this time around!
Growing up, I had a mom and dad who enjoyed their weekend nursery trips, getting beautiful plants and flowers to fill our garden. I sadly, am pretty hopeless with gardening. Our new home will luckily be of a more manageable size, and easy to maintain.
I do sway for the more modern looking garden designs. The clean simplicity of the wood with the manicured greenery along with the natural stones – is just so elegantly beautiful.
Here is this weeks inspiration! I do think you can adapt these designs to fit different size gardens and even a rooftop garden.I definitely reccomend finding a good landscape architect in your area.
Granite countertops is something i have wanted to incorporate into our home for a long time. Last summer, i finally got a beautiful white shiny marble countertop installed as the centrepiece for our kitchen. It is a huge splurge, but it is one of my favourite items in the kitchen.
We will be moving in a couple of months, it will be sad to part with our beautiful kitchen which we have used years on getting it exactly the way we want it. But, exciting to find inspiration for our next kitchen!

White interiors are stunning. I am possibly drawn to it mostly because it is something I can’t do allot of in our house since our kids are still young. However, I am adding more and more of it in our house and I love the simple sophistication you get with a white theme. High maintenance – yes. But, stunning too!
