Recently I have been going to different stores having a look at bar stools. We have some in our kitchen, white easy to clean bar stools. However, the quality on them wasn’t that good and the paint has started fading. So, I will try get them sold and get new one’s for the next house.
Here are some of the types I have been looking at. Bar stools can really frame a kitchen, and give a unique look to the room. It is fun shopping around for new one’s and trying to see which one’s will best for our new kitchen. Of course, keeping within a budget but making sure I get good quality chairs this time around!
Front doors are like big statement pieces and lift up the look of any home. Looking at properties while we were in the US recently, I always looked at the magnificent detailing of the front doors – it was the first thing i noticed and told a story of what the rest of the house was like.
Growing up in South Africa, with exceptional interior architects, I got to see stunning homes with magnificent finishes. Earlier this year, we were in Cape Town and again on viewings I got to see big bold beautiful doors, leading you into designer homes. We even got to see an apartment where the owner got the rights to change out their door, it gave the apartment big selling appeal compared with other units in the building on sale.
Sharing some of my door-fascination with you, in this mondays lookbook …
Growing up, I had a mom and dad who enjoyed their weekend nursery trips, getting beautiful plants and flowers to fill our garden. I sadly, am pretty hopeless with gardening. Our new home will luckily be of a more manageable size, and easy to maintain.
I do sway for the more modern looking garden designs. The clean simplicity of the wood with the manicured greenery along with the natural stones – is just so elegantly beautiful.
Here is this weeks inspiration! I do think you can adapt these designs to fit different size gardens and even a rooftop garden.I definitely reccomend finding a good landscape architect in your area.
Granite countertops is something i have wanted to incorporate into our home for a long time. Last summer, i finally got a beautiful white shiny marble countertop installed as the centrepiece for our kitchen. It is a huge splurge, but it is one of my favourite items in the kitchen.
We will be moving in a couple of months, it will be sad to part with our beautiful kitchen which we have used years on getting it exactly the way we want it. But, exciting to find inspiration for our next kitchen!
Here are some photographs I found for this weeks lookbook! (Click on the photographs for more details)
Adding mirrored pieces to rooms isn’t a new trend. But, i do like that it has become so mainstream so that there are many pieces you could find out in the stores to fit your room and your budget. It gives a room instant style and glam!
Here are some pieces I found for this weeks lookbook, enjoy!
Last night, I went to a viewing of new house in Nordstrand Oslo. The location is great, with beautiful views. The brokers were very helpful, giving me all the practical information about the area and what the area offered for my kids who would be going to the schools in the area.
We have however chosen another part of Oslo. But, I thought the house itself was just gorgeous, with a very good floor plan and finishes. Top class!

Black & white for me is timeless. I have long thought that black is too overpowering and found it challenging to incorporate in our home. After getting some inspiration, I find myself somewhat obsessed with the simple use of black & white. It’s fun to play around with different textures for different rooms, and seeing how it affects the mood for different rooms.
If used properly, I do think it can add a beautiful modern statement to a room. What are your thoughts about this kind of theme?
